A framed shirt was
presented to U15s player Lewis Sutcliffe who broke his neck during a
game recently. Thankfully due to surgery and determination, Lewis is
now well on the road to recovery. The shirt framed was the one he
was wearing when the accident occurred. Lewis would not allow
hospital staff to cut it off him for some time. The Club wishes
Lewis well.

The end of season
presentations for all teams will be held on Sunday 8th June at the
Halifax Vandals Clubhouse which has officially been booked for our use.
The Under 8's wll be playing
their fixtures in the morning - 10.30 kick off. They should be finished
for around noon - ish.
The Under 8's and Under 10's
presentations will be held at 2pm, Under 11's & Under 12's at 3.30pm and
the Under 13's & Under 15's will be held at 5pm. We have the use of the
Vandals until 7pm. All are welcome to come along to support the Under
8's it would be great to have a lot of support for them. Obviously you
can arrive earlier than your childs presentation too.
It must be stressed that we
cannot encroach on the first team pitch. We will be ensuring this is
roped off and signs displayed on the day.
We will be holding a
bar-be-cue and selling sweets/pop for drinking outside. Obviously we are
going to need help in the running of the bbq. It would be appreciated,
now we know the times of each age groups presentations, if parents could
volunteer to help in this area. Please let your coach know so we can
arrange a rota for the day. Thank you. The more of us that volunteer,
the less time we should need to spend. Children will be given a raffle
ticket by their coach to enable them to get one item from the BBQ for
free. All others will be charged £1.00 per item.
A list of roles to be filled
next season will be displayed on the day. Please if you are considering
standing to help in the running of the Club, or re-standing, put your
name on the list so we know who is interested. Thank you.
There will hopefully be many
sponsors around on the day Please be appreciative, without them... we
would not be where we are, with kits, tracksuits etc etc the list goes
on.
Hopefully the weather will
be on our side and a good day will be had by all!

Richard Mudd, a junior
player who has progressed to our Open Age was awarded with the 2nd Team
Most Improved Player at the Open Age end of season award giving last
week! Well done Richard - a well deserved award given that Richard
(Muddy) is now a regular 1st teamer! Muddy has also been selected to
play for Ireland U18's! What an achievement - keep it up, we'll all be
supporting you.
Graham Charlesworth (Chinny),
another open age player has been selected to play for BARLA U23's in the
forthcoming tour of Italy. Another fantastic achievement. Well done
Graham!
As juniors these 2 players
show what can be achieved through the game.
The U12's were fortunate to
be invited to the Shay to do a lap of honour at half time during the
Halifax v Dewsbury game. The team took their winners cups and a banner
detailing them as premier division winners. It was an honour for the
team to be allowed to do this. Our thanks have been forwarded to Halifax
RLFC, and to Pete Emmett who spoke of the teams success whilst at a
meeting at the Shay. The U12's were allowed to do a bucket collection
whilst at the Shay and raised just over £250.00 for Club funds. thanks
guys!!!

Commiserations to the Under
13's on not getting through to the next round of the Halifax Cup.
A MASSIVE CONGRATULATIONS
to our Under 12's on winning the Supplementary Cup Final!
The first silverware for the
Jnrs!!! A fantastic result!
Thank you to everyone who
made the journey to Emley to support the team.
They really did appreciate
it - sure you could tell following the match!
Thank you to all sponsors
too, from the team. As the bus was paid for by Goodall Transport, we
were still able to charge a small fee per adult travelling, do some
football cards and also manage to get all the change turned into £200.00
(not sure there was quite that much!) by Ian at the New Inn. These
monies will go towards the Under 12's doing something together during
the closed season. A celebration went on at the New Inn for quite a few
hours... after the match. Just ask how many of the adults enjoyed the
day as much as the team!?? Not sure if Monday morning would have held
the same feelings... although guaranteed we are still buzzing about the
result!
THANKYOU TO ALL!!!
The Under 12's are in the
final of the Halifax Cup on 20th April. We hope we have as many - if not
more supporters than we had for this one!

Under 8's will be playing
Summer Rugby this summer! This was voted for at this months league
meeting held on 2nd April - only 2 votes were against the change. The
season for this year's U8's will finish with the festival next weekend,
12th April. It will then restart again with this seasons U8's still
playing as U8's in early May until roughly September (may be just before
September due to age restrictions). The proposed plans are then for
their season to then recommence as U9's next May through to September
and so on until U11's. The season then will run May - beg July. Then
they will have until September to ready themselves for registering as
U12's that September. A meeting is being held later this month to
finalise all of the details, as it is new to all and everything needs
agreeing/planning. You will all be advised further then. There will be
no U9's running this next winter season! There is no alternative! This
has been agreed. Should any parent have a query regarding this major
change please contact Vicky MacDonald.
The league now has over 3000
players registered and new players are still coming through. This has
taken over last years numbers.
Illingworth Under 10's
festival is now to be held on 3rd May not the 4th.
Mini-Mod festivals next
weekend -
U8's at Greetland on
Saturday 12th. To be there at 10am to register. 10.30 start.
U10's at Greetland on
Saturday 12th. To be there to register at 1pm. 1.30 start.
U11's at Brighouse on Sunday
13th. To be there to register at 1pm. 1.30 start.
All players will receive a
certificate and medal for attending.
Raffle tickets for the draw
to be held on presentation day have now been ordered and should be ready
for 11th April. We are looking for more prizes! If anyone can donate a
prize please pass it on to Vicky MacDonald. Thank you. Presentation day
has been moved to a week later than originally advised. It is now 8th
June.
Raffle tickets will be given
to every player in the Club to sell and return the ticket stubs and
funds. Plese try to sell the tickets. As a Club we have not done any
major fundraising this season at all. We do need to!
If anyone would like to
reserve a place on the bus the U12's have going to the final on Sunday
6th April please let Vicky MacDonald know asap. £3 per adult. Once
numbers for all players and their immediate families are confirmed the
bus will hopefully be filled with a list of those interested. The bus
will be leaving the New Inn at Mount tabor at 8am or the Irish Centre at
8.15 am. We are expecting to be back at around 1pm. Entry to the final
is £2.50.

We have a mini committee
organising the Presentations/Fun day for all. This has been
provisionally booked for Sunday 1st June for all teams. Plans for day
will be advised but for now I'm forwarding this message on behalf of
Julie Marsden - one of the committee. They are wanting to produce
programmes to sell detailing events on the day. We NEED your help in
selling the advertising space in the programmes. If you are interested
in buying a space or know of someone who will be please contact
myself or
Julie.
Many thanks everyone, it is
with the intention of raising funds for our Club!
As part of the
fund raising for the Fun/Presentation
Day, we are organising a programme of
which we are hoping to sell before and
on the day. For this we need sponsors to
agree to advertise in this programme at
a cost of £10.00 for an eighth of a page
or £20.00 for a quarter.
We need as many
people as we can to sell as many spaces
as they can as this is a really good way
of fund raising for our club.
All we require
from the company is a business card or
compliment slip along with their
payment, we are hoping to finalise this
by the end of April.
Your thoughts and
suggestions on this idea would be most
welcome.

Halifax Irish JARLFC have this
season recruited 13 "volunteers" to compete in the Jane Tomlinson Run for
All- Leeds 10K on 22nd June. The volunteers - Gary & Alison Waldon, Lee &
Michelle Amos, Jason MacDonald, Martin Wolstenholme, Mick Lovelady, Chris
Rhodes, Nigel Sutcliffe, Stuart Varley, Pete & Yvonne Richardson and Graham
Horner are partaking to raise funds for Hannah Cockroft - a 2012 paralympics

her brother Daniel is a player. Hannah is pictured training at Springhall

help the family with their costs. A new racing chair costs in the region of
£3500! Hannah currently has support from Dame Tanni Grey-Thompson who will
also be partaking again in this years run for Jane. Anyone who would like to
support Hannah's bid should contact Vicky MacDonald, Halifax Irish Junior
Secretary on 01422 833923.

Under 8's to show
the big guys how the game is really played!
Our under 8's have secured a
curtain raiser before the Halifax RLFC v Melbourne Storm match on Friday
22nd February!
They will play a match
against Brighouse, another local team, kicking off at 7.00PM.
If you are going to the
match please show your support and get there early to watch our
youngsters.
If you have any Club
merchandise, wear it! Let's get ourselves noticed and show the players
we are there with them!
Under 8's so far this season
are unbeaten and have scored a total of 516 points in just 11 games!!!

Under 18's - Unfortunately we have had to take the
decision to "fold" this team. This was a difficult decision made by the
committee, and not one made lightly. Much time has been spent trying to keep
the team up and running but unfortunately the time has come to call it a
day. As a committee we would like to thank all those who committed to the
team. Players, you are more than welcome to continue with our open age. We
do want you to do so! Please contact Vicky MacDonald for further details.

25.11.07 Illingworth Sports Club 2 Month Trial
At a committee and coaches meeting held 25th
November, the decision to take a 2 month trial playing at Illingworth Sports
Club was agreed. Please be assured this is not a merger. We are still
Halifax Irish JARLFC. We do still have the hire of Roils Head for the
season, and may still need to play some games up there during this trial.
Please support this move.
23.11.07 U12s In
Orange
Pictured are our Under 12's who went as a group
wearing their new team kit to watch the 1st Great Britain v New Zealand
Tri-Nations match at the Galpharm Stadium. The players, wearing distinctive
orange wigs, went with the mission of a former player, now living in
New Zealand,
being able to spot the team. They were holding up KIA-ORA JON to help. Not
only did the team appear on Sky Sports, four times, they also appeared on
Sky Sports News and on the BBC! The past player did get up at 5.00am to
watch the match and was thrilled at the teams efforts to say hello!
