December 2007 Newsletter
Dear all,
We hope you enjoyed the Christmas parties that were held recently for all age groups. A huge thank you must go to the mini committee who organised the parties. Well done guys – 2 great afternoons!
Unfortunately we have had to take the decision to fold our Under 18’s team. This was not a decision made lightly. Much time has been spent trying to keep the team together but unfortunately the decision had to be made due to the lack of numbers.
You will all have been up to Illingworth recently trying out their facilities. We hope you appreciate having facilities “on site”. We will keep you informed of all decisions that will be made regarding our Clubs’ future. We do still have the use of Roils head, and will still need to use it when we have many home games. We will keep asking Bing’s Butty’s to go up to allow you to purchase refreshments.
It is the time of year when unfortunately games are called off due to the weather conditions. Please bear with us and hope for drier/warmer weather after Christmas! Your coaches will let you know of any cancellations as soon as they do. Unfortunately this is often on a Sunday morning!
Next years Run For Jane; in Novembers newsletter it was mentioned that we could do this run to raise money for Hannah Cockroft. We have now been in touch with the race organisers and they are very happy for us to participate and even help with publicity! We NOW NEED VOLUNTEERS to do the run! Sponsored of course! The entry for the run is £20 per person so this will be the very minimum amount of sponsorship to be raised but we are sure much more could – and will be raised. Please contact Vicky MacDonald to advise of your interest. At the moment she has 11 names – not all are running the race – some are walking! Please consider giving your time!
The sponsors draw which was scheduled to take place last month was postponed. It will be taking place on the day of the panto the open age are planning for 29th December. Further details of the Panto will be e-mailed.
Another baby has been born into the Club! Harvey arrived during November! Congratulations!
Michael Bruce has started our Clubs’ Tots Rugby. The sessions are held on Saturday mornings 11.30 – 12.00 and are aimed at 4-6 year olds. We have several regular attendees who really do seem to be enjoying their first training sessions! Well done Michael for setting up the scheme! We are the first local Club to be introducing the game to youngsters at this age.
Obviously, it’s the time of year when Santa may be delivering new boots for Christmas? Please donate any old ones to the Clubs’ boot box – in a clean state please! Please pass them on to Vicky MacDonald.
We can then recycle them. This also goes for old shoulder pads/shin pads etc. We can help other players through this scheme. It has worked successfully for us previously.
Finally can we wish you all a very Merry Christmas! See you all in the New Year!
Here’s to continuing with a great season in 2008!
