King Cross Park u8s 0 - Halifax Irish u8s 50

Newly formed King cross U8’s battled bravely against their more experienced opponents and twice were stopped inches from the line preventing them from scoring. Irish started to throw the ball about, Ben Sutcliffe  was directing play and he sent Lyndon Sutcliffe racing through a gap who in turn released the supporting Callum Pilling who rounded the King cross defenders to score the pick of the Irish tries. Ben Burrows and Jude Corcos stood out for Irish in defence and Burrows was rewarded for his efforts when his strong running enabled him to shrug off two defenders to score. King Cross came back strongly but they found it hard going against their bigger opponents Lyndon Sutcliffe in particular, who ran in four well taken tries for Irish, and Max Balfour who scored his first try in only his third game of rugby league. Ben Sutcliffe then went on a weaving run to the try line to score, and after a King Cross knock on Harry Lovelady and Callum Pilling then combined to send Jude Corcos to score the final try of the game.
